Black Party? Catch an off-Broadway show too.

boom650.jpgAs a prelude or wind-down from the Apocalypse that is the Black Party itself, catch a show that might stimulate some other part of your body.

When we’re in New York City, my boyfriend and I like to take in several off-Broadway shows.  OK I admit I am not a big fan of the mega-productions that dominate Broadway with special effects and costumes that belong in a summer blockbuster.  The creative word and nuances of the acting can easily be lost in the Big Show.

So check out the NYT review of the opening of a new play by San Francisco writer Peter Sinn Nachtrieb.  Boom, an off-kilter queer take on the recent boom in Apocalypse-themed entertainment, runs now through April 13 at Ars Nova, 511 West 54th Street, Manhattan; (212) 868-4444.
