Serendipity strikes again – I got a notice from the library of an overdue book – Joan Didion’s Run River, which has been sitting on a table waiting for me to take it back. I thought I had renewed it but apparently there was already a hold on it and I didn’t see my renewal had failed. So I took it down to the branch on Jersey when I got back from work yesterday and really just intended to drop the book off and get back to Friday night. But I went for a quick browse of the stacks and ended up finding a book about the lives of Gandhi and Churchill and how they intersected. I haven’t ever read bios of either man (astounding I know) so I checked it out. I’m halfway through – fascinating.
